First news is that most of my baby horses have been turned away for their winter break, they have all coped with every thing I have asked of them with confidence and all seemed to enjoy their work. Dippy won a dressage class at Hill View Arena and Captain schooled beautifully round ACE XC, I was dying to take him to a dressage competition jus to see what the judges thought of him, as he moves so nicely, but he was starting to feel like he needed a break, so I will have to wait. A clip of him at his first ever water complex at ACE Cross Country near Tewkesbury, can be seen by clicking here.
The only one in work at the moment is lovely Buddy, who is a baby horse with a famous Grandma “Fresh Direct Wiston Bridget”who came 2nd in the Hickstead Derby and won numerous international classes including one at HoYS. Buddy came home from being broken in last weekend and is an absolute sweetheart. He will do about 4 weeks work before also being turned out.
Last week I went with my friend Tom Searle to Ireland, great excitement as we were horse shopping. I bought a super young horse called Dynamo, really well bred, he arrived at Eight Oaks Farm last Monday on an enormous 16 horse lorry from Dunlop Transport. He took a few days to settle after his long journey, he is really beautiful, very exciting. Although not quite so exciting was my travel sickness, I am in debt to Tom for his sprint to the flight attendants area to get a sick bag for me, he was only just in time. 🙈
My lovely 5 year old Eventer Massimo has been sold as I want to concentrate on all my younger horses, he went to his new home a week ago. I miss him as he was the most lovely horse to have on the yard and to ride but I think my younger horses will be even better than him, although he’s a hard act to follow as he was such a brave horse to jump and so easy on the flat too.
