Baby Horses Progressing

All four of the babies are now in work, although winter holidays for some of them are imminent.

The lovely Captain 💖has been to his first show, jumping super clear rounds, he’s brave and light on his feet, a real jumper, see his rounds here.. Everyone keeps asking how I am getting on with my Renkum horses so I am feeling the pressure to do well on them to help promote our local stud. Based in Castlemorton Renkum Stud has many talented and well bred horses for sale and the owners Henk and Louise Minderman are lovely. Many of their horses jump or have jumped internationally and they also run the equine passport company Breeders Elite , we are very lucky to have such a pretigious stud on our doorstep.

Diva and Dippy are also going well, both bold and brave, Dippy the cob is my favourite of the two, I just can’t help liking the cobs!. Diva is a stunning mover and a very elegant horse, she’s gentle and kind too. Her round from Hartpury can be seen here. I can’t help thinking she will make an outstanding dressage horse, I have never sat on a canter like it.

Massimo went to Monmouth eventing last week and went past 2 fields of cows, I was delighted he is getting used to them, there was a tricky left turning combination of skinnies right next to them too and he jumped through easily, a huge improvement for him. He was clear until the third last fence when we made a mistake, I let him come in an a canter that was too quiet and he scraped through the first skinny brush fences so I took a turn between the two fences, suddenly he didn’t feel right so I reluctantly retired him. Turned out he had pulled a shoe off and stood on the toe clip. So that evening he had a pad put on to stop it getting infected. I was so pleased with him as the XC had been tricky all the way round, it had caught out some really good horses. There were so many skinnies, I counted 10, and he just kept on trying. He is such a lovely horse and try’s so hard to please.
