Just had several events in a row cancel due to this extraordinary wet spring weather, but Eland Lodge ran on the Sunday. It meant we were towed on and off the parking field and the dressage warm up was so sticky Massimo struggled to warm up, in fact I didn’t warm up. I walked round a bit then went in, to my surprise he scored a 29! Then a few poles down SJ and a super clear XC round a tricky track which was sticky in places. He’s so awesome XC. Now sadly he is on box rest as has a foot abcess, he gave us quite a scare for a few days as the lameness didn’t seem to have a reason but now we have found it and it’s nothing serious.
He will miss the next two events though while I poultice like mad.
Diva has come back from being broke and after 3 weeks work she has been turned back out for until the Autumn and Dippy is just finishing off his 3 weeks ridden work and is due to be turned out shortly. Both are lovely and very easy, hacking out on their own and jumping a course of fences, can’t ask a 3 year old for more than that.
Sprout is competing confidently at 90 cm competing in his first Eventer training competition last week finishing in 3rd place beaten by Rif Raf who came 2nd.
Very promising as they both beat my old horse Hartpury Top Gun although he was being ridden by his new owner, so an inexperienced partnership. But very encouraging for my two rides as Top Gun when I owned him was the second best horse at BE 100 in the UK, based on points won at that time.
